HIGHLANDS ABILITY BATTERY

APTITUDE ASSESSMENT

Imagine swimming with the current rather than against it.

When your career, job and workplace align with your natural abilities, that’s how it feels. You’re in the flow. Energized. More satisfied and fulfilled.

The Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) is an objective, research-backed assessment that measures your natural abilities. There are no “good” or “bad” scores. Every ability is scored along a continuum, where scores on the high end will serve you better in some contexts, and scores on the low end will benefit you in others.

Benefits of Taking the Highlands Ability Battery

How well do you really know yourself? You might be surprised to learn about your hidden talents. Or abilities that come so naturally to you that you don’t even realize you’re using them.

Even if you have a pretty good handle on your strengths, being able to articulate them can be incredibly powerful, especially when it’s time to look for a job. Your gifts set you apart from all the other candidates vying for the same position. It’s essential for you to be able to have the language to describe them.

Specifically, the results of the assessment can help you:

  • Identify possible careers (or college majors)

  • Make a minor career pivot or major career change

  • Maximize your performance at work

  • Recognize opportunities for personal and professional growth

  • Find greater satisfaction and meaning at work

  • Achieve greater balance in your life

  • Improve your personal and professional relationships

  • … and more!

Self-awareness breeds clarity and self-confidence. And it’s foundational to career success.

Why Start with Natural Abilities?

Along with several other elements that influence career satisfaction, natural abilities are critical to consider throughout the transitions and turning points in your career … and life.

Unlike skills, which can decline with disuse, natural abilities remain accessible to you throughout your lifetime (barring accident, injury or cognitive decline). Your natural abilities are gifts that combine in ways that make you uniquely YOU.

When you understand and apply your natural abilities at work—and in life—you’re able to steer yourself toward tasks, roles and work environments that utilize, value and appreciate your strengths. And away from those that don’t.

Unlike other assessments that rely on your perception of yourself—or the way you think others see you … or the way you want others to see you—the HAB objectively measures your natural gifts and talents through a series of timed work samples.

Your scores are based on doing rather than thinking about doing.

The “Highlands Experience”

The Highlands Ability Battery is more than an assessment. It’s an experience. After completing the assessment, we’ll meet virtually for your 90-minute individualized debrief session to review your results together, applying them to your own experiences and career aspirations.

Your results will be presented in reports that you’ll be able to access through the Highlands client portal whenever you’re contemplating a change or navigating a transition.

Within two weeks of your debrief session, we’ll meet for a 60-minute follow-up session to clarify any questions you might have about your results, and discuss actionable strategies to move you toward the next chapter in your career.

The Highlands Ability Battery is a journey of self-discovery.
