From a previous career in academic political theory, Christopher Skeaff brings to his clinical work a longstanding fascination with freedom, power, and change.

“I was drawn to the way political theory treats big, important problems from a variety of conceptual and historical perspectives,” he says, “particularly the question of freedom — its meanings, manifestations, and conditions.”

In psychodynamic therapy, Chris finds a unique approach to the same issue.

“Therapy helps clients to free themselves from restrictive or damaging patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior.  It offers a space for them to create new ways of being and relating,” he adds.

Chris aims to provide a therapeutic setting where clients feel safe, supported, and invited to explore what matters most to them. His areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions, with a particular expertise in academic-related challenges.

Chris earned a master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and a certificate in the Fundamentals of Psychoanalytic Thought from the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute. He holds doctoral and bachelor’s degrees in Political Science from Northwestern University and the University of Toronto, respectively.
