ARIEL KAUFMAN (she/her)

Intern

As a therapist, Ariel seeks to uncover the root causes of her clients’ presenting concerns in tandem with finding strategies to relieve their symptoms. In doing so, she uses an integrative approach based in a psychodynamic theory of mind, incorporating acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness practices, and a focus on embodiment.

She works with individuals ages 10 and up facing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, body image issues, relationship concerns, and stress around life transitions.

Ariel is committed to providing a safe therapeutic environment where all identities and forms of self-expression are welcome.

“Therapy is a unique space for us to be present together and explore the dynamics that exist below the surface of everyday life. This allows us to understand the reasons why different patterns are happening and empower you to find the power to make new choices. It is my job to meet you where you are and support you on your individualized path to healing.”

Ariel is a crisis counselor volunteer with the Trevor Project, serving LGBTQ+ youth dealing with suicidality. She is also a certified RYT-200 yoga instructor, trained in and teaching trauma-informed Yin yoga. She previously worked as an early childhood teacher at Chicago Waldorf School.

Ariel graduated from Stanford University in 2019 with a major in Art History, and is pursuing her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Family Institute at Northwestern University.
