Denise K Ambre, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Psychoanalyst specializing in individual, couples, adolescent and child psychotherapy, and I maintain a private practice conveniently located in Glenview, Illinois.
With over 25 years experience as a therapist, and as a graduate of both Loyola School of Social Work and the Wisconsin Institute for Psychoanalysis, I am currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of expertise are depression, anxiety and trauma/PTSD.
In addition to being a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I have presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of trauma and PTSD, parenting and child development. I am also on the faculty of the Wisconsin Institute for Psychoanalysis where I teach courses on psychoanalytic topics, and adjunct faculty for Northwestern University where I am a Preceptor for the Masters students in the Counseling Psychology Program.
I am an interactive, psychodynamic therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and insight to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with individuals to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Karl Briedrick, LPC
Karl Briedrick is a graduate with his Masters in Counseling from Northwestern University. He received his undergraduate degree from New York University at the Gallatin School.
Karl has received his training from The Family Institute where he offered psychotherapy to individuals addressing concerns around mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, grief, chemical dependency, and relationship issues for individuals and couples and with members of the LGBTQ community. Karl also loves working with adolescents and young adults as they struggle through the complexities of their emerging adulthood.
Having previously worked as a musician and writer, Karl is also uniquely attuned to the challenges facing artists and specializes in working with creative professionals to navigate the individual needs of their practice and process. In working with clients, Karl creates a space of warmth, acceptance and depth though empathetic dialogue.
At Ambre Associates, Karl works with clients to develop collaborative strategies for creating meaningful, life-long change.
Erica Leibrandt, LPC, RYT
I am a licensed professional counselor specializing in depression, anxiety, grief, adolescents and couples. Additionally, I am a registered yoga teacher, published author, reiki practitioner, mom to six, and proud companion to therapy dog, Bruno. Because I wear so many hats, I am able to provide a unique approach to treatment, which lends itself to attaining optimal mental and emotional health.
I combine psychodynamic theory with narrative therapy to allow clients to explore who they are, and effect change where they deem necessary. When appropriate, I also use meditation and mindfulness techniques to help manage anxiety and depression. Each course of treatment is specifically tailored to the individual to ensure the best outcome.
I am a graduate of the Northwestern University Master’s in Counseling program and received my B.A. from Loyola University. I am a passionate public advocate for suicide education and prevention, as well as the creator and facilitator of Write Club, a six week therapeutic writer’s workshop, which I offer periodically throughout the year. I believe in the power of therapy to heal, and am humbled by the courage, strength, wisdom, and growth I have seen my clients reclaim for themselves.
